Commencing at the Spanish steps, you will learn the origin of its name and if they are really “Spanish”.
The steps, called by Italians “Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti”, were built to link the piazza to the Church of Trinita dei Monti.
Here you will also admire the fountain in the middle of the square called “Barcaccia” and the Column of the Immacolata.
One of our expert guides will then escort you to the Trevi fountain, the terminal point of an ancient roman aqueduct. Here you will learn about the sculptures of the fountain and its connection with the Pope and the Church. Don’t forget to bring a coin with you to toss in the fountain, it will ensure your next visit to Rome!!
The Pantheon will be your next stop. Once the temple of all Gods, today it is used as a Roman Catholic church dedicated to "St. Mary and the Martyrs". It is one of the most ancient and best preserved building of Rome, and is well worth it to visit from the inside to learn everything about its Cupola, the Oculus and what happens when it rains in Rome!
You will continue your tour through the narrow and charming streets of Rome to find yourself in one of the busiest squares of the city: Piazza Navona. Enjoy the live street performances and the artists that this square hosts while you absorb the history and culture this quintessential Roman [iazza.
Main attractions here are the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini and S. Agnes in Agone Church by Borromini. Learn all about the life and the rivalry between these two great artists of the 1600s.
A short walk will take you to the next piazza, Campo di Fiori. Once a place for public executions, today it hosts an open market during the day and the exciring nightlife of Romans and tourists alike when the sun sets.
The last stop will be Largo Argentina where you will be surprised to find a cat sanctuary!
Throughout this tour you will travel between ancient history and the present time and you will see why Rome is called “Caput Mundi”, the Capital of the World!
